San Jorge Eco-lodges is an Ecuador-based ecotourism company specializing in BIRDWATCHING and NATURAL HISTORY  TOURS  on our MAGIC BIRDING AND HIKING  CIRCUIT . We are happy to accommodate both individuals and groups on either one of our BIRDWATCHING TOURS,   NATURAL HISTORY  & CULTURAL TOURS  or, on a SHAMANIC  MEDICINAL PLANT TOUR . We accept  Lodging guests also.

My name is George, your new friend and manager of San Jorge Ecolodges, home of the Magic Birding & Hiking Circuit in Ecuador. San Jorge Ecolodges is a family-run, Ecuadorian-owned system of lodges and nature reserves dedicated to preserving and restoring habitat for birds and other species.

I have been guiding tours for 20 years, and take great joy in sharing my homeland with visitors from all over the world. Ecuador is a naturalist's paradise, with many different eco-regions to explore. We would love to share it with you!

San Jorge Ecolodges' Magic Birding and Hiking Circuit in Ecuador is the first of its kind in Latin America. As pioneers in a new kind of development, San Jorge  owns 5 private Birding and Botanical reserves, and 5 rustic-deluxe, beautiful and  very comfortable Eco- lodges, spanning 10 different eco-regions throughout Ecuador. Kept in their rich, natural state, all of the exclusive reserves offer visitors the chance to fully immerse themselves in all that is Ecuador. Why Ecuador?

Ecuador is one of 17 megadiverse countries, meaning that it has an extremely high level of biodiversity. It is also a very small country--about the size of Colorado. These two qualities mean you can see a large number of species and landscapes without traveling long distances. It is possible to see over 1,600 bird species without driving far outside of Quito, making it one of the most rewarding places for birding in South America.

Ecuador is famously rich in bird life with more than 1,600 species of birds, making up 20% of the world's total. Ecuador is home to 4700 species of orchids, thousands of species of butterflies and moths and a 10.000 array of native plants. Visitors who want to take full advantage of Ecuador's megadiversity will need to explore some of its the further reaches--and the Magic Birding & Hiking Circuit can take you there.  The country still has  several native  tribes that maintain their culture intact and proudly show  it to our visitors.
