Our guests says
Nature lovers or any one else looking for peace and quiet will appreciate the San Jorge eco-lodge.
I thoroughly enjoyed my five days there-watching dazzling hummingbirds while eating in the restaurant, horsebackriding up into the highlands, and simply relaxing in the beautiful gardens. The cheery fires in the stone fireplaces of the rooms were delightful on cool nights, a surprise in June and so near to the Equator.
The staff is wonderfully attentive and make the guests feel like family, even better because they ask you when you want to eat!!
As a Biologist and Natural Historian I specially enjoyed the Botanical Preserve on the property, but not special expertise is needed to admire the many flowering plants
including the variety of native species in the gardens around the lodge. The owner and manager Dr George Cruz
is very knowledgeable and helpful about the local flora and fauna, specially birds. He is also happy to relate the human history of the area.
The lodge is a good jumping off place for day trips -Quito is close and the magnificent Milpe Cloud forest lodge only a couple hours away. George is tyreless and efficient in arranging all manner of tours with excellent guides. I should think San Jorge would be a very good place to bring groups of students and use as a staying point for learning Tropical Biology and Andean culture . I recommend it whole- heartedly and eagerly look forward to returning.
