-The very personal bird guiding provided by Jorge Sr and Jorge Jr was INCREDIBLE. You both are very knowledgeable about your local birds .
-I found it specially helpful when you help us located the birds, showed us the picture and name in the field guide and doing the checklist at the end of the day.
-The experience with your family and the whole Hosteria was so incredible that its hard to list them all.
-Jorge Jr is a super and enthusiastic birder . What an incredible young man.!!
- We look forward to having your family visit us in Colorado and taking you birding and sharing Colorado with you both in Lakewood and our ountain cab that has lots of beds.

San Jorge de Tandayapa is fabulous, San Jorge de Milpe is Magical, San Jorge de Quito is lovely.
Birdwatching in the Magic Birding Circuit was EXCELLENT, very thought, many good news of many good birds.
Wonderful guidance by George, the owner. Food was good, accomodations were delightful, very comfortable, in beautiful settings, with birds outside the windows
Can´t ask for more.
We could have used more free time in Quito and in Milpe, but I wouldn´t have missed a thing.
Maybe Connecticut Audubon could schedule more time or maybe we could come back for a longer stay.

The Magic Birding Circuit, including San Jorge de Tandayapa, San Jorge de Milpe and San Jorge Ecolodge in Quito was MAGICAL!!! Yes, totally BEAUTIFUL, friendly and full of excellent nature and birding.
In the birdwatching and hiking tours, George Cruz, the guide was EXCELLENT, sensitive, warm and very knowledgeable.
Transportation was good and comfortable. Food was delicious and native which I enjoyed.
Lodging, hotel and services were all very good.
Everyone was very helpful and professional and always gracious!!

We visit San Jorge de Tandayapa, San Jorge de Milpe and San Jorge Ecolodge in Quito, each place was wonderful and unique.
We mostly enjoyed birdwatching and hiking which was varied and interesting, even for non- birders.
Transportation and food very good from both places.
For nonbirders, informational tours that focus in geology, flora, fauna ,archeology and cultural history would be welcome.
For those unfamiliar with Ecuadorian birds, it would be easier to call out and track only one or two birds at a time.

They are all beautiful, well-maintained and have great diversity. George Cruz, the owner is an excellent guide, with top knowledge in birds, friendly and personable.
Birding from the porch was great! Thank you for the abundant supply of bottled water. The food was very good and excellent service. Thank you for sharing these beautiful places with us.

WE went birding from 2-23-07 to 3-3-07
The areas were San Jorge Lodges and Preserves are located ( Quito, Tandayapa , Milpe, Cosanga) are absolutly incredible !!
Don´t think there could be much better. We were happy to see so much of this beautiful country, we loved Ecuador. Everyone was so helpfull and enjoyable. Loved how personal everyone was. The food was delicious , we enjoyed the cultural dishes. We enjoy expending time with George and Irina and Jorge Sr , Wonderful birding experiences, What amount of birds!! George is a very knowledgeable guide.

Comments: We had a great 10-day vacation to Ecuador mid-January 2007. Our
first stop was at the San Jorge Hosteria which we fully enjoyed. With George
(owner) as our guide we explored the San Jorge de Tandayapa Reserve (Cloud
Forest) and went overnight to the San Jorge de Milpe Reserve where we played
in the waterfalls. The hikes were moderate because of our limited physical
abilities. Although we are not birders we found the bird watching experince
at Tandayapa quite good. It helps that George is so knowledgeable and
enthusiastic about the birds. Milpe was beautiful and isolated. The meals
there were great! We think the Cruz family is wonderful and wish them the
best with their endeavors with the Eco-lodge. Their personal attention make
the whole experince something special.

Rooms - comfortable and warm, once fire lit . Very peaceful.
Restaurant- service was very good, and delicious food. Better wine choice is suggested

We enjoy a day visit to Saquisili for the local market. Excellent experience of Andean life and culture.
We visited San Jorge de Tandayapa with excellent guiding by George. It is a beautiful area with wonderful mountains and forests, teaming with bird life. We learnt a huge amount and enjoyed George`s tuition. Very good picnic lunch.
Transport was good with efficient airport transfers. Rooms are lovely, particularly with the warmth of the fire in the room. Botanical Reserve Hosteria San Jorge staff is delightful and anxious to please. Restaurant food is very ice. Limited wine list.

All tours were excellent, with Jorge a interesting, personable and knowledgeable guide.I particularly ennjoyed the magfic birding circuit in Milpe .The river and waterfall was just beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Guide service can`t not be faulted. The rooms and facilities in general are great, but I must mention the excellent service provided by Vicente, he works very hard and allways smiling. He is a great asset to Hosterìa San Jorge.

In Quito Ecolodge Reserve we do a self guided hikes to waterfalls and high altitude ( above tree line)
The property is beautiful , specially with its proximity to Quito. Its like a little OASIS.
Jorge is an excellent birding guide . Enthusiastic and professional . he really enjoys birding- and it shows. His wife was friendly and helpful.
The MAGIC BIRDING CIRCUIT , the San Jorge Tandayapa Road and San Jorge de Tandayapa Reserve provides some of the best birding in the world.!!
This is a good tour for bird enthusiasts.
San Jorge Ecolodge Botanical Reserve tour in Quito, I see this like a gold of mine for soft core nature lovers. A little more self guided with shorter tour opportunities.
Biggest market will be baley boomers with high disposable income. This area could really capture that range.

We loved meeting the Cruz family, from George, Sr. to Gaby. All your services met our expectation and more . Keep on doing the same things-we want to come back again.
We enjoy the horseback riding. It was wonderful to have a small group and a very friendly guide .The food for the whole stay was fantastic, and more than adequate for our outing. It was good to see healthy strong horses also. In the guide books and in the web site you could provide more details about San Jorge de Milpe and Tandayapa (or did we miss the link)? Then we could plan those days ahead on time.

We had a fantastic time at Hosteria San Jorge. It was very beautiful and peaceful, very relaxing after a month traveling in South America.
Everybody was friendly and helpful, and the food was fantastic.
The horse-riding was brilliant, and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. If we come back to Quito, we will come and visit again.

Hosteria San Jorge is one of the friendly places I ever stayed.
Its very much a family run business and both George, Grandfather and George, Senior have a great passion for all things Ecuadorian. George, Senior has a great knowledge of birds and all wildlife in Ecuador and its history. He is a wonderful guide. The food is wonderful and healthy and can be taken by a roaring fire at night and with the hummingbird feeders at breakfast or lunch at the patio. The fires make all the rooms very cozy and inviting. I would recommend this place to anyone who would like a friendly place to relax in beautiful surrounding.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Ecolodge San Jorge and thank you for your hospitality. We would recommend your establishment to others looking for an alternative near to, but out of the city of Quito. The lodge would provide an excellent base location for trips to various nearby destinations . As birders, we had good birding on the grounds, and recognize that the series of Botanical Preserves offered by San Jorge provides opportunities to see a huge number of bird species .
